Hi, I am a hypothyroid patient since 3 years and am taking thyronorm 50 mcg. I got myself tested in september 2020 in which tsh levels were below the limit. Since then am taking thyronorm 50 mcg. From past one month, I was taking homeopathic medicine for some allergy. This medicine was required to be taken on empty stomach also, first thing in the morning same as we take thyronorm. My homeopathic doc said this medicine can be taken along with thyroid medication. So from past one month, I was taking both the medicines at the same time (with a time gap of 5-10 min). Now I again got tested for my thyroid levels, my tsh came around 8, which was beyond the limit. Now I am taking 75 mcg. Can you pls tell if the same caused because I was taking homeopathic medicine with thyronorm or the tsh levels are fluctuated because of other reasons.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. As you have rightly said levothyroxine needs to betaken on empty stomach and nothing else to be taken for next 1 hour. So if you are taking treatment for hypothyroid please follow that guidelline. As regards the other medicine, you can definitely take it after 1 hour of taking levothyroxine before taking any food as you will be still be on empty stomach. As regards changing the dosage on your own is not at all advisable. Please talk to your physician or endocrinologist before making changes in dosage of levothyroxine. Mow with tsh at 8 mu/l it is clear that your dosage was not correct. I am not sure about what effect the so called homeopathic medicine medicine will have. Because in that there is hardly any medication with extra super dilution. If you hvave any questions please do come back. Thanks.
